Christmas is big business, and the christmas card (Weihnachtskarte) industry certainly makes a good profit by producing cards such as religious cards and funny Christmas cards. There are so many different Christmas card ideas nowadays and not all of them reflect the true meaning of the festive season. It does make you wonder as to whether we have lost the true meaning about what Christmas is truly about.

One thing is for sure that kids nowadays don’t even know or understand the meaning of Christmas, they simply think its all about getting presents. It is important that kids understand what Christmas is and why we celebrate the season, it is particularly difficult now in schools, as there are many religions, some of which don’t celebrate our Christmas.

Once we have taught our kids about the meaning of this religious festival, it is time to prepare for the celebration. There are two days which are considered the main parts of Christmas, these are the 24th of December and the 25th of December. If you have children, then the excitement generally focuses around Christmas eve, when all of the presents are put under the tree and the kids are told that Santa is coming. But before this event it is important to prepare for the big day:

· Writing your Christmas card messages is a major factor of Christmas, it is good to give and receive cards, however, many people don’t agree with this concept and choose to give money to a charity of choice, rather than write hundreds of cards.

· Wrap the presents – don’t leave it until the last minute to wrap the presents.
· Putting the tree up.
· Making preparations for the food for Christmas and getting the table and décor just right for the big day.
